Description
Olsen-Hegar Needle Holder from Robbins Instruments.
Needle holders or needle drivers, are used to hold and drive sutures during the wound-closing process of surgeries. Oslen-Hegar needle holders feature scissor blades below the jaws to easily cut sutures eliminating the need to switch to an additional pair of scissors streamlining the wound-closing process.
Our needle holders come standard with tungsten carbide inserts for increased durability and longevity. The oslen-hegar needle holders come in two tip styles: Serrated jaws that provide extra security and control when maneuvering sutures and Smooth jaws for delicate/finer needles. The serrated variant comes in lengths 4.75″(12cm) , 5.5″(14cm), 6.5″(17cm), and 7.5″(19cm) while the smooth tips come in 4.75″(12cm) , 5.5″(14cm) , and 6.5″(17cm).
we offer German stainless steel variants as an alternative. The oslen-hegar holders have two stainless steel variants one 4.75″(12cm) and the other 5.5″(14cm) both with serrated jaws.
recommended suture size for Olsen-Hegar Needle Holder depends on the size of the needle holder:
- 4.75″(12cm) = suited for finer sutures in the 3-0 to 6-0 range, used in delicate procedures or smaller anatomical areas.
- 5.5″(14cm) = most commonly paired with 3-0 to 5-0 sutures, and is a great tool for general soft tissue work and more delicate procedures that don’t require an extremely fine or extremely heavy suture.
- 6.5″(17cm) = well-suited for 2-0 to 5-0 sutures, allowing you to work in a range of general surgical applications.
- 7.5″(19cm) = More versatile and can handle 0 to 4-0 sutures comfortably, making it suitable for deeper tissue or larger anatomical structures.
